This morning, on the Sabbath, I am so overwhelmed with thankfulness and gratitude to have the love of my Savior. I don’t often allow myself to rest in this feeling. There is always something pulling my heart and thoughts away from the peace He offers- the unpaid bills, the dirty stove top, the unmade bed, the baby growing in my belly. This is my biggest error. The peace of knowing that He works all things for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose is not conditional, no matter how many times my deceitful heart tells me otherwise. Too many times I will profess with my mouth the unconditional love of the God I serve to others and not believe that these same promises pertain to me.
But this morning, with the sun trying it’s best to make a cameo appearance, spring just around the corner, and the most amazing cup of freshly brewed coffee and a big slice of multigrain toast with raspberry jam, things are a little cleaner, a little clearer. Jesus loves me- He’s my Father, Provider, Care-Giver, Sustainer and Friend.
I hope you, too, can rest in that today. (And have a cup of coffee as good as mine- stop on by here if you’re out:)
